Doosan Robotics Inc., a leading collaborative robot (cobot) manufacturer, unveiled its newest P-Series (Prime-Series) cobots at Automate 2024.
Machine Design was fortunate enough to catch up with Alex Lee, president, Doosan Robotics Americas, just as the cobot was being unwrapped and set up. 10kg Packing Machine

In this video demonstration, Lee explains that the main reasoning behind developing the P-Series cobot is that many packaging companies using palletizing solutions found a limitation when it came to weight and reach.
The P3020 cobot has a payload of 60 lb and can palletize up to 80 inches high without a lift. “It is the heaviest payload with the longest reach cobot in the market,” Lee said. “Not only that, but it is also the fastest robot in the market within the collaborative space. The cobot is capable of rotating at 360 degrees in one second.”

Other key features of the P-Series cobot lineup, according to Doosan, is the inclusion of lower power consumption compared to similar payload cobots achieved by applying its built-in gravity compensation mechanism, inherent wrist-singularity free and a 5 degree-of-freedom movement with the 4th axis removed and 6th axis speed increased to 360 degrees/second.
Safety has been prioritized across solutions, which includes achieving the highest PL (e) and Cat 4 safety ratings for the P3020 cobot.
