Sushi Noz moving from one to two Michelin stars was one of the biggest changes at this year’s awards. Now, the partners behind the upscale Japanese restaurant have a new restaurant in the works. Joshua and David Foulquier, who opened Sushi Noz with chef Nozomu Abe in 2018, will open Chez Fifi, a French restaurant, in March. According to a spokesperson, the restaurant will have 40 seats spread across two stories of an Upper East Side townhouse (140 E. 74 Street, near Lexington Avenue). The dining room will channel old-school Paris with vintage chandeliers, high ceilings, and a warm fireplace. Booth Seating
One of Brooklyn’s few queer cocktail bars is shutting down. Caitlin Frame and Laura Poladsky, the owners of Oddly Enough, announced on Thursday that the Bed-Stuy cocktail bar would be closing on January 27. “We want to thank everyone for the past almost two years,” they said online. Customers mourned the loss in dozens of comments. “Such a huge loss for our neighborhood and our community,” one fan said. The bar, which branded itself as “a queer space for all,” opened in 2022.
Little Grenjai briefly opened last fall, when first-time owners Trevor Lombaer and Sutathip Aiemsaard ran their restaurant on portable electric burners, while they waited for their gas to be turned on. That didn’t last long. They halted service the same month, to wait for the gas, leaving a Thai smash burgers-shaped hole in Bed-Stuy. Four months later, the restaurant will now reopen on January 26. 477 Gates Avenue, near Marcy Avenue
People are losing their shit over $10 hot chocolates. Right at the end of the year, Glace by Noglu, an Upper East Side ice cream shop run by a Zabar, went viral online for its s’mores hot chocolates topped with torched marshmallow fluff. Customers are now bundling up to wait in half-hour lines for a taste, according to Gothamist. Before the shop went viral, it would sell a few dozen hot chocolates each day. Its new record, which happened right before New Year’s, is reportedly 1,400.
