How Scott McTominay Packed on 15kg and Transformed His Physique

'I had to work exceptionally hard to put on muscle,' said the Manchester United midfielder

Manchester United's midfielder Scott McTominay has revealed his 15kg weight gain which he attributes to some pretty hard graft on the gym floor. The 6 foot 3 premier league player, who has gone from 70kg to 85kg shared that his muscle transformation was far from easy. hex dumbbells

'I think people would have their eyes opened if they knew how hard players work in the gym and the level of intensity that’s required to push yourself to hit those goals,' says McTominay.

Speaking to FourFourTwo, the footballer, 27, shared: 'My body has been transformed over the past seven years. At 17 or 18 I was 70kg, at 6ft 3in; now I’m 85kg. I had to work exceptionally hard to put on muscle.'

McTominay has previously shared his training efforts on his Instagram, and has even consulted fellow midfielder and former teammate Paul Pogba to share his secrets for gaining muscle mass. According to McTominay, Pogba told him that when he reached 23 years old, he'd put on muscle. 'It didn’t happen' says McTominay, 'and I remember thinking, ‘where is it then?!’

Since then, McTominay has clearly stepped up his lifting efforts, and the difference in his physique over the years is quite staggering.

As we know, shifting tin is just a part of the puzzle when it comes to making gains, and decent fuel and recovery is necessary to see the fruits of our labour. Something McTominay isn't one to skimp on.

'I’m fortunate because I’ve always had a love of the gym. I like to see marginal gains and I’m competitive in there. The same goes for diet and sleep – I’d say I’m disciplined and that’s something I take pride in.'

The Manchester United star has certainly been putting the work in off the pitch, which will surely pay dividends on the pitch in the New Year.
