For his part, the president of the College of Opticians-Optometrists has pointed out that the deduction “is very positive because it makes it easier for people to access opticians, to wear glasses and contact lenses. If we take into account that for 92% of the population the organ of vision is the most important, it is striking that 30% do not check their vision. Therefore, these aids make it easier for people to become aware of both prevention and whether they need glasses to improve their quality of life."
The deduction limit will be established per taxpayer and the disbursements may be used to purchase optical products for any of the members of their family unit.
When two reporting taxpayers have the right to apply this deduction because it corresponds to expenses related to other members of their family unit, its amount will be prorated between them in equal parts.
