11-Inch And 13-Inch OLED iPad Pro Models Expected To Ship In April As Suppliers Begin Display Production This Week

Apple failed to launch a new iPad last year, and the company's annual revenue reflected the declining demand. The overall iPad revenue fell due to a lack of innovation from Apple's end. However, the company has big plans for the iPad Pro lineup, which is expected to launch in the next few months. One significant change in the iPad Pro lineup is the OLED display and a redesigned chassis. It is now being reported that the OLED displays for the iPad Pro have entered the production stage, and shipments will begin in April.

The bigger 12.9-inch iPad Pro currently features a mini-LED display, while the smaller 11-inch model features the standard LCD. With the upcoming upgrade, Apple is expected to incorporate OLED displays on both models of the iPad Pro. This will end the company's discrimination against the 11-inch variant, as it also holds the 'Pro' moniker. A new report from The Elec now claims that the OLED displays for the iPad Pro will enter the production stage this week, with shipments expected to begin in April. 5 tft display

The publication notes that LG Display recently began producing the thin film transistor or TFT for the bigger 13-inch iPad Pro displays. On the other hand, Samsung will begin TFT production for the 11-inch iPad Pro's display this week. If you are unfamiliar with TFT, it is a thin layer that acts as a switch to turn the individual OLED pixels on and off. With TFT layers entering the production stage, the 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Pro models are expected to enter mass production by March.

The mass production schedule lines up with the iPad Pro's rumored launch. Prominent analyst Ming-Chi Kuo stated that the OLED iPad Pro models are expected to launch in the second quarter of this year. This means that the iPad Pro could launch between April and June. The company could also launch the iPad Pro at its WWDC 2024 event. However, Mark Gurman reported earlier that Apple will launch the OLED iPad Pro models alongside the new iPad Air in March. The iPad Air is also expected to come in a new 12.9-inch size as Apple follows the same approach as the MacBook Air.

The OLED iPad Pro will also feature Apple's latest and greatest M3 chip and additional upgrades. It was also speculated that the company is planning a glass back on the iPad Pro with MagSafe capabilities. Nonetheless, the OLED display will remain one of the most significant additions as it holds many benefits over the mini-LED and LCD panels. We will share more details on the OLED iPad Pro's launch, so stick around.
