Gamo has introduced its Vapor 10X Multipump Pneumatic, calling it the first real advancement in multipumps in more than 50 years.
The .177 caliber Vapor 10X boasts a velocity of up to 1200 feet per second, with a 10-round rotary magazine. This is quite a milestone, considering it makes the Gamo Vapor 10X Multipump Pneumatic air rifle the first to reach the 1200 fps mark. Its round, rotating magazine snaps right into the side of the air rifle. Once the magazine is seated, simply close the bolt, pump and shoot. With a single pump, the pellet is expelled from the barrel at 450 fps, but with 10 pumps one can reach the maximum velocity of 1200 fps. The automotive-grade glass-filled stock features a soft cheek piece, and gives the option of shooting open, fiber-optic sights, or with a scope. The scope is not included, but the airgun does feature an 11mm dovetail scope rail. If one does attach a scope, the gun also boasts an elevated cheek comb, to more naturally align the eye with the crosshairs. Compressed Air Hose Reel
All these features mean the Gamo Vapor 10X would be a great crossover gun for a junior hunter's first air rifle. With just one or two pumps, the Vapor can be a fun, simple plinker for a day spent tipping cans. With a full complement of pumps, however, the rifle is ready for a day in the woods tipping over squirrels. The inclusion of open sights also lends to these ends, as junior can take his first shots through open sights, then move on to mastering magnified optics. The straight-pull bolt also makes good practice for cocking similarly proportioned .22 rimfires—which often serves as a shooter's next step.
