Mespack and Fuji Seal intend to replace plastic bottles, reduce plastic consumption, and simultaneously boost efficiency by signing a collaboration agreement to develop an all-inclusive sales contract for filling pre-made spouted pouches.
Under the new contract, Fuji Seal’s pre-made pouches are set to be integrated with Mespack’s HF Series machines. The partners intend to commercialize the pouches, equipment, and equipment maintenance in a bid to reduce the complexity of synchronization; in turn, they expect to improve productivity and reliability across operations and help companies increase their capacity. The partners state their further intention to develop mono-material and recyclable pouch solutions. Integrating their technologies is hoped to lessen the amount of waste produced by optimizing resource utilization, as well as encourage industry players to embrace environmentally-minded packaging solutions.
Also, the companies seek to save time and labour for their customers and unlock the ‘most efficient and effective packaging solutions available in the pre-made pouches market’.
Reportedly, Fuji Seal’s pre-made pouches are designed for durability, functionality, and aesthetic appeal. They are geared towards a range of industrial applications, including food, beverage, HPC, pharma, and homecare products.
Meanwhile, the HF Series fills pouches through the spout in an effort to minimize headspace and enable filling for various pouch sizes. Its ‘cutting-edge’ filling technology aims to ensure high-quality fills and preserve the integrity of the product.
Also integrated into the machinery is the Mespack Athena digital platform, with its intuitive control panel and advanced software for user-friendly operation, monitoring, data analysis, and maintenance. Mespack plans to develop a module to integrate Fuji Seal’s ‘Revolver Warehouse’ into the HF Series.
The Revolver Warehouse system is described as precise and efficient. It is expected to streamline the process of loading pouches, in turn cutting down on labour costs and boosting productivity in pouch introduction by 90%.
Encompassing the European and American markets, the strategic partnership seeks to streamline innovation, enhance product quality, and ensure customer satisfaction.
“For Mespack, collaboration with strategic partners is essential to providing the best solutions in the industry,” said Guillem Clofent, managing director at Mespack. “This alliance with Fuji Seal marks the beginning of a journey we will undertake together to advance the pre-made pouch market.
“Together, with the One Sales Contract, we aim to facilitate the adoption of new technology and capacity for our customers, at the same time that we continue to introduce unique and innovative solutions with high-precision filling in pre-made pouches, enhanced productivity, and significant savings in time and production costs.”
Masahisa Fukuda, FSI executive officer for pouch business at Fuji Seal, added: “We are thrilled to join forces with Mespack in this strategic collaboration. Our shared dedication to innovation and quality allows us to offer customers a comprehensive solution that combines the best of both companies.
“With our high-quality pre-made pouches and Mespack’s advanced technology in packaging machinery, we are opening up new possibilities in the spouted pre-made pouch market.”
A similar project came to light late last year, when SÜDPACK and SN Maschinenbau entered into a developmental partnership to create a concept for the in-house production of polypropylene-based, recyclable stand-up pouches with spouts. It was to be geared towards food producers and fillers who had previously been utilizing pre-made spout pouches.
The partners have since worked on a recyclable film solution for spouted pouches, which can be produced in-house. The film is said to be resealable and serve as a cost-effective alternative to pre-made pouches, with the companies recommending their use for liquid or pasty foods such as fruit purees, among other applications.
Meanwhile, SIG has revealed a new filling system for pre-made, spouted aseptic pouches. It aims to negate the need for third-party pre-sterilization of spouted pouches and ”give producers full control and flexibility of their production”.
Additionally, Mespack has worked with Watttron to integrate smart digital sealing technology into flexible packaging machinery. Apparently, the technology is suitable for complicated pouch geometries, and it claims to reduce the amount of wasted pouches by 65%.
