This is a global art event open to Chinese language enthusiasts worldwide. We invite Chinese language enthusiasts across the globe to demonstrate their unique perspectives and emotional expressions of the world through art. Regardless of your location or skill in painting and calligraphy, we encourage you to participate and share your artistic creations. Through this event, let us use the medium of painting and calligraphy as a bridge to transcending borders, languages, and cultures and collectively write the chapters of our future.

1.The Calligraphy and Painting Challenge is open to Chinese language enthusiasts worldwide, with no age restrictions.
2.Submitters must be non-native Chinese speakers and non-Chinese citizens.
3.Minors must obtain parental or guardian consent for submission.
4.Submissions must be made using the submitter's real name. Pseudonyms or repeated submissions under the same pseudonym will not be evaluated.
What we’re looking for
Calligraphy Category: Calligraphy artwork + vlog + registration form.
Painting Category: Painting artwork + vlog + registration form.
The calligraphy artworks for this calligraphy and painting challenge will accept Chinese brush calligraphy in any script style.
Tools: Chinese brushes (soft-hair, hard-hair, combination-hair) or brush pens with soft tips.
*Please do not submit artworks created with fountain pens, ballpoint pens, water-based pens, or pencils.
Content: The written content should be positive and energetic, encompassing both literary and plain styles, and should convey positive emotions. When writing poems or articles, please use authoritative versions and ensure the accuracy, coherence, and relative completeness of the content. Include the original author's name and title of the piece in the signature area.
Word Count: The main content should be a minimum of 10 characters.
Image Format: Accepted formats include jpg, png, jpeg, and other mainstream image formats.
Submitters must comply with relevant laws and regulations and ensure that the written content does not infringe upon copyrights, reputation rights, or cause any disputes. The submitter shall be responsible for any disputes arising from the content or form of the artwork.
The painting artworks for this calligraphy and painting challenge have no limitations on the form or style of expression.
Tools: Watercolors, oil paints, sketches, acrylics, printmaking, digital painting, digital painting, and other mediums are all acceptable (except for three-dimensional creations such as paper cutting, origami, and sculptures).
*Please do not submit artworks created by AI (Artificial Intelligence).
Content: The artworks should be relevant to the theme, evoke imagination or deep reflection, and strive for authenticity, goodness, beauty, and the conveyance of positive energy.
Image Format: Accepted formats include jpg, png, jpeg, and other mainstream image formats.
Submitters must comply with relevant laws and regulations and ensure that the painting content does not infringe upon copyrights, reputation rights, or cause any disputes. The submitter shall be responsible for any disputes arising from the content or form of the artwork.
Video Content: Capture the process of creating calligraphy and painting artworks (can be sped up or selectively edited) and share the artistic intentions and insights.
Video Format: Accepted formats include mp4, mov, and other mainstream formats.
Video Resolution: 1920*1080 or higher (landscape orientation).
Each submitter is required to complete the "Registration Form for the 2023 Chinese Bridge Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreigners across the Globe—Calligraphy and Painting Challenge" by filling out the electronic form on a computer and submitting it as a Word document. Handwritten or image-based registration forms will not be accepted.
Submitters must include their calligraphy artwork/painting artwork, calligraphy and painting vlog, and the completed registration form together as a complete submission. Incomplete submissions will be considered invalid.

The Calligraphy and Painting Groups will be assessed in groups, with three Best Technique Awards, three Best Presentation Awards, three Most Creative Awards, three Most Potential Awards, three Network Popularity Awards, three Self-media Popularity Awards for each group respectively.
Contributors who win the Grand Prize in this challenge will each be awarded a place in the 2024 Chinese Bridge Summer Camp in China and a round-trip ticket to China (provided by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation).
Contributors who win individual prizes in this challenge will each be awarded a place in the 2024 Chinese Bridge Summer Camp in China (provided by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation).
*The winners of the individual prizes will be responsible for their own round-trip airfare to China.
How will works be judged?
1. The organizing committee of this painting and calligraphy challenge will set the rules of evaluation, evaluation workflow and the code of conduct for judges and supervisors, define handling methods for violations to conduct a fair and square judge.
2. The Best Technique Award, Best Presentation Award, Most Creative Award and Most Potential Award will be selected by the jury. In the judging, review of writing content, correctness and error of text will be stressed, painting works will be reviewed according to color, structure, intention and creativity, and vlogs will be reviewed according to the content and language expression.
Network Award: The top three entries with the highest number of likes on the special page of the Chinese Bridge Painting and Calligraphy Challenge will be awarded the Network Popularity Award.
Self Media Popularity Award: Post your work on your personal account with the hashtag #汉语桥书画展 & #BridgingCultures. Follow and tag @chinesebridge2002 (Instagram account), @ChineseBridge2002 (Facebook public page), @汉语桥(Weibo account). The highest number of likes on each platform will be selected. The top three platforms with the highest total number of likes will be awarded the Self-Media Popularity Award.
3. The judging process will take place in November 2023. After the organizer verifies the originality of submitted works, the results of the evaluation will be announced in a timely manner.
4. Submitted works must be completed independently by the submitter. Please do not make multiple submissions. Violators will be disqualified. All submissions will not be exchanged or returned.
5. When judging prizes in the Calligraphy and Painting categories, the same contributor will not be awarded multiple prizes, and one person can only win one prize. Only one prize will be awarded for each work, and independent creativity is encouraged.
6. All participants will be awarded a certificate of honor by "Chinese Bridge".
7. Electronic certificates will be sent to the winners within 90 working days from the date of announcement of the winners.
