Highway 49 was closed in both directions near the area as crews battled the flames. As of 3:30 p.m. Monday, the lanes were reopened.

Heavy smoke is still present in the area.

Viewers reported wood pallets on fire behind the business.

According to the Mississippi Forestry Commission, the fire consumed a total of 10 acres, threatening 20-25 mobile homes in the area.

”It’s life safety first and then property,” Harrison County Fire Chief Pat Sullivan said. “In this case, we were really concerned by making sure that all the workers that were here evacuated and they got out safely, and then the next part of that we’re trying to take care of our firefighters, fighting intense fire, and making sure they’re safe, not only from the flames, but also from the heat and the exertion from the fire.”

At this time, there’s no damage to any structures and no injuries have been reported.

Harrison County Fire says it believes the fire was accidental.
