ITAIPU Binacional donated a batch of top-level microscopes to the Central Laboratory of the Hospital de Clínicas, belonging to the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the National University of Asunción (UNA).The equipment was delivered on the morning of this Wednesday, May 31, by the directors of the Binacional.

This donation, made within the framework of the Entity's social responsibility policy, will strengthen the laboratory testing capabilities in the Microbiology and Hematology departments respectively.In this way, it will especially benefit low-income patients who come to the site and will also be very useful during the learning process of medical students. The donated equipment is four Olympus brand binocular microscopes, whose special magnifications allow the observation of a greater number of blood cells per microscopic field.This decreases the analysis result time.Another advantage is that it has halogen light, which gives it greater clarity and illumination and has a useful life of 60 thousand hours.

Patients who arrive at the aforementioned reference hospital, especially those most vulnerable, will be able to benefit from a higher quality hemogram (blood test), which includes the leukocyte formula, morphology of the red blood cell count and platelets, among other values. .

The Paraguayan general director of ITAIPU, Manuel María Cáceres, participated in the delivery ceremony;the Director of Coordination, Gustavo Ovelar;and hospital authorities.Director Cáceres highlighted the social role that the Binacional plays in collaborating with various areas.
