Container Defect Prompts Recall of Albuterol Inhalers - MPR

Cipla has initiated a recall of 6 batches of Albuterol Sulfate Inhalation Aerosol, 90mcg (200 metered inhalation) due to a container defect.

The recall affects products manufactured in November 2021 and includes batch numbers IB20045 (expiry date: Nov 2023), IB20055 (expiry date: Nov 2023), IB20056 (expiry date: Nov 2023), IB20057 (expiry date: Nov 2023), IB20059 (expiry date: Nov 2023), IB20072 (expiry date: Nov 2023). In batch number IB20056, a leakage was observed through the inhaler valve in a single inhaler. Albuterol Sulfate Inhalation Aerosol is indicated for the treatment of acute asthma exacerbations. The container defect may result in the recommended dose of albuterol not being delivered, which may result in life-threatening consequences. At this time, there have been no reports of adverse events related to this recall. Consumers with product from these 6 batches should get replacement inhalers.
