A Japanese restaurant known for its fresh, Sanuki-style udon; crispy tempura selections; and “theater” kitchens where guests can watch their food being made is coming to the new “restaurant row” on the north side of Westfield Southcenter mall in Tukwila later this year.

It will be the first Washington state location for Marugame Udon, which also has locations in California, Hawaii, and Texas.

Marugame Udon was founded 20 years ago by Awata-San and is inspired by traditional udon kitchens in Sanuki, Kagawa, in Japan, according to an announcement today on the opening.

Marugame Udon will be the final addition to the restaurant row announced last fall. It will join the row’s Korean barbecue restaurant chain Gen Korean BBQ, which celebrated its grand opening earlier this month, and Mr. Dim Sum, also slated to open later this year.

The restaurant row is located between Macy’s and Round1 Bowling and Arcade.
