5 Best Jersey Sheets, Tested

There’s something so comforting about slipping into your favorite T-shirt or pajamas after a long day, and you can get that same feeling with the sheets for your bed. If you’re looking for that super soft, worn-in feel so you can drift off to sleep peacefully, we recommend investing in a set of jersey sheets. While it’s worth noting that jersey sheets typically don’t perform as well as more conventional cotton sheets in our Textiles Lab durability tests, they stand out for their exceptional soft and cozy texture that certain sleepers can’t get enough of.

While it's best known for its organic cotton clothing as a sustainable fashion brand, Pact's home collection shouldn’t be overlooked. These jersey sheets are incredibly popular and for good reason. Our testers and analysts were impressed by the high-quality, 100% organic cotton fabric, which felt thicker and more substantial compared to other jersey sheets on the market. This set also earned high scores across the board, excelling in comfort and ease of bed-making. One tester shared, "These sheets were so soft," while another noted, "They aren't super heavy and feel breathable." We also like that these sheets are made in a Fair Trade Certified factory and certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), meaning the entire manufacturing process is organic. Just note that the sheets earned lower scores in blind softness tests compared to other jersey sheets.

With nearly 29,000 reviews, an average 4.6-star rating and a price point at a fraction of our other picks, this jersey set from Amazon Basics is nothing to scoff at. It's made of 100% cotton for that classic T-shirt texture and can accommodate mattresses with depths up to 14 inches. Our analysts were impressed by its Oeko-Tex Made In Green certification, which means these sheets were found to have no trace of known harmful substances and were produced in an environmentally friendly and socially responsible facility. We also love that this set is available in a wide range of colors, from neutrals and pastels to bolder options.

Look no further than these West Elm sheets if that super soft, comfy feel of your favorite T-shirt is what you’re after. Made of 100% cotton and both Oeko-Tex and Fair Trade Certified, the set's look and feel impressed our analysts and testers alike. The sheets, which feature a brushed texture, received some of the highest scores in our softness tests, with one tester saying that, compared to other jersey sheets, “They're more soft and plush, which makes them more relaxing.” Others describe them as “soft and cozy” and similar to “falling asleep in a cloud.” Just keep in mind that these may not be the best choice for hot sleepers or summer months as testers warned that they retained some heat.

Sizes: Full, Queen | Material: 100% cotton | Depth: 16"

Our Lab analysts admire Coyuchi, a Sustainable Innovation Award-winning brand, for its commitment to sustainability. Not only do we love that this sheet set is fully certified by the GOTS, so you know it’s fully organic, but it performed well in Lab tests for softness and wrinkle resistance. Though the sheets feel a bit thin compared to other jersey sheets we evaluated, some testers found that they’re best suited for colder weather. Others were obsessed with their soft, cozy feel. “I really liked the softness of the sheets and felt really cozy sliding into bed,” one tester said. Another pointed out their high-quality design and fabric, recommending them to anyone looking for comfort. “These sheets are SO SOFT and feel so good on my skin,” they said. Just keep in mind that they might run a bit big depending on the size of your bed.

While Purple is known for its unique, pressure-relieving mattresses, its SoftStretch sheets are a best seller for their stretchy fabric and silky smooth feel — and they might be some of the softest on the market. Plus, they’re an excellent choice for hot sleepers, earning higher marks in our recent moisture management tests than other cooling sheets. “These have been the best set of sheets I have ever slept on,” said one tester. “They keep me at the right temperature and I do not get hot or cold.” Made of a blend of viscose, polyester and spandex, they have an incredibly comfortable feel that testers love. We also appreciate that they drape well over the bed without the corners popping up and coming undone. While blends that combine different fibers can be more likely to pill, these sheets held up fairly well in our pilling tests in the Lab. The set also didn't crease as much as others we tested and had minimal shrinkage after multiple washes.

There are several criteria we evaluate for every sheet set we test. Here's how we assess each one:

✔️ Softness: Consumer testers come into our Lab to feel and rate each fabric for softness and comfort, either in a blind comparison or by sleep testing them in their own homes.

✔️ Dimensional stability: Each sheet is marked multiple times, based on a standardized testing method, washed and measured to evaluate shrinkage over time.

✔️ Wrinkle resistance: After laundering, we move the sheets to a room with specialized lighting to assess any creases or wrinkling using industry standards.

✔️ Fabric strength: We prepare swatches of fabric and load them in a machine that evaluates tensile strength (called an Instron). This machine then pulls apart each sample to measure the force needed to break it.

✔️ Pilling resistance: Our Martindale Abrasion Tester (pictured) rubs swatches of each sheet fabric together 1,000 times to evaluate the pilling resistance.

✔️ Consumer Testing: At-home testers also rate aspects like temperature regulation, fit, ease of use and appearance and provide in-depth feedback on how the sheets held up over time as well as any likes or dislikes.

✔️ Material: Jersey sheets are available in a ton of different fabrications. Here are some of the most common fibers you'll encounter:

✔️ Durability: It can be difficult to tell which jersey sheets will be the most durable, and we're often surprised by our test results, so we try to share as much information on how different sheets perform in our tests. Generally, polyester fibers tend to be more durable than cotton or rayon because they're more resistant to things like shrinkage and pilling. But there are also cotton and rayon sheets in our tests that score higher than we expect, as well as polyester options that don't perform well.

✔️ Depth: No matter how stretchy jersey fabric is, make sure the sheets you're interested in can actually fit your mattress, especially if you're using a mattress topper, as you'll have to account for the extra height.

✔️ Certifications: The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the easiest way to check whether any sheets are fully organic, as it requires strict standards for the entire manufacturing process. In addition to this, there are other certifications you can look for to avoid high levels of unwanted substances in your sheets. Oeko-Tex Standard 100 and Oeko-Tex Made in Green certifications ensure that there are no unsafe levels of chemicals, and the Made in Green certification ensures that the product was manufactured in an environmentally friendly and socially responsible facility.

✔️ Care instructions: Most jersey sheets are machine washable, but some may call for cold water or delicate cycles. If you get night sweats or don't wash sheets regularly, washing sheets in warm or hot water is ideal, so look for ones that can withstand higher temperatures.
