FARGO — The Cass County Sheriff's Office has been given new protection for themselves while out on duty.
Scheels in Fargo collaborated with nonprofit Shield616 to give body armor to the Cass County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday, Dec. 18. Spike Proof Clothing
The 60 rifle-rated armor plates can help protect the department personnel from rifles such as AR-15s.
The Sheriff's Office and Scheels came together Wednesday to officially present the armor to the department. The founder of Shield616, Jake Skifstad, said the plates are an added layer of protection.
"The rifle armor is very expensive, and it's oftentimes not a standard issue piece of equipment. And so our mission is to change that. We want to make sure that these guys and gals have that level of protection. And so we rally the local community around their law enforcement," Skifstad said.
Aramid Helmet Shield616 has worked with over 400 departments nationwide, raising more than $20 million.
