MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Months after a woman’s remains were found in a plastic bin on a remote Arkansas road, a man has been arrested and charged in the case, the St. Francis County Sheriff’s Office says.
Micah Lacy, 45, of Forrest City was arrested Thursday and charged with first-degree murder, abuse of a corpse, and a felony weapons charge.
His bond was set at $1 million, and he will be arraigned Monday.
Troy Strope’s nude, decomposed body was discovered inside a plastic storage tote on February 20 by teenagers on four-wheelers riding on St. Francis County Road 731. The 42-year-old had been missing for about a month, the family said.
“Now we at least have an arrest and it happened on the day. So the 20th is not going to be a day that the tote was found,” said Strope’s aunt Eve Dillman.
Sheriff Bobby May said authorities had a person of interest in the case by late February but did not release further details.
“The minute they served the first warrant, and they went into the house we began to research who this person was. I can’t say that we learned anything that’s good,” Dillman said.
The sheriff’s office said more arrests are expected in the case.
“We would like everyone still to support us because we obviously have a long road ahead,” Dillman said. “I know it will take time to get through the justice system and we still have a lot of work to do to get to that point.”
