Avantis Education specifically won the Trailblazer: Immersive Reality (AR/VR) category based on the success of ClassVR. This educational package includes XR hardware and software to enable a successful immersive deployment and utilisation in STEM learning courses. ClassVR also gives students access to a shared online platform for leveraging a range of built-in AR/VR learning assets.

In a comment provided by an Educator Judge for the Best of STEM 2024, the awarding body noted that “ClassVR definitely found a unique niche within the VR learning environment.”

Further official statements explained that the ClassVR platform gained its award based on various factors, adding that ClassVR “works within 90-95 per cent of various (operating systems and devices) and their dynamic learning management system solves common student privacy issues (found in) VR platforms. “

Moreover, the platform’s built-in Eduverse shared immersive learning content and mobile device management systems gained further praise from the body because they capitalized on a “simple plug-and-play framework, using QR codes to easily manage wireless network connections.”

The Best of STEM 2024 Award highlights Avantis Education tools’ ability to teach critical STEM knowledge at a time when the roles are becoming increasingly valuable.

Avantis CEO Huw Williams added:

Virtual reality is a powerful tool to support instruction and engage students in all subject areas, including STEM and we are honored to earn this recognition. This award is judged by STEM educators which makes this win even more meaningful.

Avantis Education notes that it gained the Best of STEM 2024 Award following recognition from the awarding body partners National Science Teaching Association (NSTA), MCH Strategic Data, and the National Association of Biology Teachers (NABT) helped bring the success of Avantis Education to the judging panel run by STEM educators.

Daylene Long, CEO of Catapult X and founder of the Best of STEM Awards, explained:

The 2024 Best of STEM winners were selected by educators for their innovation, cross-disciplinary approach, and focus on providing students with opportunities to address real-world challenges. Judges noted these forward-thinking companies deliver transformative tools that enrich classroom experiences and encourage students to engage thoughtfully with the world around them.

Avantis Education unveiled new ClassVR software and content upgrades at the ISTELive event in Denver earlier in the year. The company showcased the educational value of VR and AR products across different subjects and presented new features of ClassVR. It also shared best practices for using XR solutions and was joined on stage by Avantis Education’s U.S. education ambassadors.

As part of the new ClassVR solutions, Avantis Education is introducing Eduverse360, which adds over 300,000 360° learning assets, including images and videos featuring information from around the world, expanding the company’s content offerings.

While immersive field trip education solutions can’t replace in-person visits, services like Avantis Education provide a simple and accessible way to teach students without expensive trips. Instead of being a complete alternative to traditional methods, VR can be used in conjunction with them.

The company notes that the distribution of the 300,000 educational assets is in response to a growing demand for curriculum-aligned content in various academic settings and classrooms, from math to English to biology.

The new features of ClassVR include a new homepage with a playlist and content answers, a sidebar with live notes for teachers, interactive 3D learning assets, improved teacher tools, and online CPD training materials for personal and professional development.

According to Avantis Education, its ClassVR solution is installed in many K-12 education institutions, and more than 2 million students use it in 90 countries.

Avantis Education is expanding its product reach to new students and regions. Earlier this year, the company rolled out its Eduverse products to St. Vrain Valley Schools, a school district in Colorado. This partnership provided all 60 schools in the district with access to Eduverse’s library of immersive VR and AR services.
